Leapmotor B03X to land in Australia in November from $29,990 drive-away, undercuts BYD Atto 2

Chinese electric car maker Leapmotor is bringing the fight to rival BYD, announcing that its new B03X electric SUV will arrive in Australia in November starting from $29,990 drive-away, undercutting the 2026 BYD Atto 2 Dynamic.

The B03X small electric SUV will be available in two variants – the B03X Style and the B03X Design LR (Long Range). The B03X Style, which will go on sale from $29,990 drive-away, boasts a 130-kilowatt (kW) electric motor producing 200 Nm of torque and a range of up to 292 km (WLTP) thanks to a 39.8kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery.

Battery capacity for the B03X Design LR is increased to 53 kWh, which pushes the driving range up to 382 km and paired with a 145 kW electric motor. Both variants can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 8.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 160 km/h.

Similarly, both grades support DC fast-charging, up to 100 kW on the Style and up to 133 kW on the Design LR, which can charge from 30 to 80 per cent in around 16 minutes. The B03X also features vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality capable of supplying up to 3.3 kW of power to external devices.

Inside, standard equipment includes a 14.6-inch central touchscreen and 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, Leap Pilot Level 2 driver assistance technology, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a rear-view camera with dynamic guidelines.

While on the Design LR, additional features include 18-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats and steering wheel, a 12-speaker surround audio system, multi-colour interior ambient lighting, front parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera system with integrated dashcam recorder.

Worth noting is the fact that the launch pricing is a promotion that applies to new models in “Acorn Brown” that are purchased and delivered between 1 October and 31 December, or while stocks last.

The drive-away price includes 12 months registration, CTP, stamp duty, and dealer delivery. MSRP for each variant before the promotion is applied for on-road costs is $26,990 for the B03X Style and $30,990 for the BO3X Design LR.

But this promotional pricing, at least for the moment, undercuts the 2026 BYD Atto 2 Dynamic, which is currently listed in Australia as priced from $31,990 before on-road costs (so somewhere around the $35,500 mark drive-away).
