Chinese premium EV brand Zeekr has confirmed its new 7GT electric shooting brake will launch in Australia before the end of 2026, offering up to 670km of WLTP range and performance capable of matching some serious sports cars.
Exact Australian pricing is yet to be confirmed, but Zeekr have indicated at the Everything Electric Show in Sydney yesterday that pricing will start at around $55,000, while the range-topping Performance AWD could land somewhere in the $70,000 to $80,000 range.
This would put the 7GT broadly alongside Zeekr’s 7X SUV, which currently starts at $57,900 before on-road costs, while giving the flagship wagon 500kW of power and a 3.1-second 0–100km/h time.
The Zeekr 7GT will become the fourth model in the Geely-owned brand’s Australian line-up, joining the Zeekr X, 7X and 009. It will be offered locally in three variants – RWD, Long Range RWD and Performance AWD – with first customer deliveries expected from the first quarter of 2027.
At a time when much of the premium EV market is dominated by SUVs, Zeekr has opted for a low-slung five-door shooting brake that combines the proportions of a grand tourer with the practicality of a wagon.
Designed at Zeekr’s global design centre in Gothenburg, Sweden, the 7GT sits on the company’s 800-volt Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA).
The entry-level RWD model uses a 75kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery and sends 335kW and 520Nm to the rear wheels. Zeekr claims a 0-100km/h time of 5.2 seconds and up to 525km of WLTP range.
Stepping up to the Long Range RWD brings a larger 100kWh NCM battery while retaining the same 335kW and 520Nm outputs. Range increases significantly to a claimed 670km WLTP, while the 0-100km/h time drops slightly to 5.0 seconds.
At the top of the range is the Performance AWD, which combines two electric motors for 500kW and 790Nm. That is enough, according to Zeekr, to propel the car from 0-100km/h in just 3.1 seconds. It uses the same 100kWh battery as the Long Range version and delivers up to 590km of WLTP range.
The 75kWh “Golden Brick” LFP battery in the RWD can charge from 10 to 80 per cent in as little as 11 minutes, while Zeekr says the 100kWh batteries in the Long Range and Performance models can complete the same charge in around 15 minutes.
The Performance AWD supports DC charging at up to 420kW and gets active air suspension with continuous damping control, which can adjust the car’s ride height and damping according to speed, road conditions and drive mode.
Comfort, Sport, Eco and Snow modes are available, along with a Sport+ setting on AWD models and an Individual mode allowing drivers to combine their preferred steering, suspension and powertrain settings.
Visually, the 7GT adopts a low stance, long bonnet and rearward-set cabin, with its roofline tapering towards a rear spoiler. Zeekr quotes a drag coefficient of 0.25.
Frameless doors, slim matrix LED headlights, a ducktail rear spoiler and full-width light bar complete the exterior, while the Performance version is distinguished by 20-inch forged wheels and orange brake callipers. The two rear-wheel-drive versions ride on 19-inch wheels.
Inside, Zeekr has attempted to retain more physical controls than many modern EVs. A three-spoke steering wheel includes configurable physical buttons, while the centre console uses machined-metal controls inspired by piano keys.
The front seats offer 14-way electric adjustment along with heating, ventilation and massage, while two 50W wireless phone chargers sit beneath a 15.4-inch 2.5K mini-LED touchscreen.
There is also a 13-inch digital instrument cluster and an unusually large 35.5-inch augmented-reality head-up display, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 processor. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also included.
Despite its sporting profile, the 7GT offers 456 litres of luggage space behind the rear seats, expanding to 1,390 litres when they are folded. There is also underfloor storage and a ski hatch for carrying longer items.
The 7GT has a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating and comes with Zeekr’s suite of Level 2 driver-assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control, emergency lane keeping, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot detection and automated parking functions.
Zeekr Australia managing director Frank Li says the company sees the 7GT as an alternative for buyers moving away from the now-familiar premium electric SUV.
“Consumers are increasingly looking beyond the traditional premium SUV. They want vehicles that combine standout design, engaging performance and genuine emotional appeal.”
