Chinese electric carmaker BYD has revealed the pricing of the upgraded BYD Atto 3 Evo, which is now available for order in Australia and is expected to begin deliveries in September.
BYD launched the Atto 3 Evo in New Zealand earlier this week with three variants – the Dynamic with up to 420 km of range, the Premium with up to 510 km WLTP range, and the Performance all-wheel drive (AWD).
In Australia, the popular mid-size EV SUV will be available in two variants – the Dynamic and Premium, starting from $41,990 and $46,990, respectively (both before on-road costs).
The front-drive Dynamic variant is equipped with a 60.48 kilowatt-hour (kWh) BYD Blade Battery with power of 150 kilowatt (kW) and 310 Nm of torque, boasting up to 420 km of range (WLTP), and a 400V architecture featuring DC fast charging of up to 110 kW.
The flagship Premium, however, offers rear-wheel drive with a larger 74.88 kWh Blade Battery with power of 230 kW and torque of 380 Nm, capable of accelerating from 0-100km/h in 5.5 seconds and offering a driving range of up to 520 km.
The Premium also features BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 EV architecture which doubles the system voltage to 800V and DC charging capability to 220 kW, capable of charging the car’s battery from 0 to 80 per cent in just 25 minutes.
The new BYD Atto 3 Evo also features a new exterior design and a completely refreshed interior, though it carries the same external dimensions as the outgoing model (4,455mm long, 1,875mm wide, and 1,615mm tall, and a wheelbase of 2,720mm).
Daytime running lights are now fully extended across the fascia, while a cleaner side profile is helped with slimmer side skirts. A panoramic sunroof and roof rails on top are matched with exclusively designed 18-inch alloy wheels for each variant.
Inside, changes include a renewed interior design includes the column-mounted gear shifter on the right of the steering column, which has been relocated from the centre console, as well as a new steering wheel design.
The driver’s LCD dashboard has been increased from 5 inches to 8.8 inches along with redesigned door panels, multi‑colour ambient lighting, rain-sensing wipers, and increased wireless phone charging power from 15W to 50W.
The Atto 3 Evo Premium also includes dual-zone climate control and driver’s seat with four-way power lumbar support. It also features increased rear boot space of 490 litres with the rear seats up, and 1,360 litres with the rear seats folded down. Relocating the motor to the rear also frees up space for a 101-litre “frunk”.
The increased power on the Premium also delivers an uprated 1,500kg braked towing capacity. Both variants also come standard with 3.3 kW of vehicle-to-load (V2L) and a suite of driver assistance and safety features.
