BYD appears to be on the verge of releasing a range of new and updated models, with an new version of the Seal EV spotted in regulatory filings that reveal fresh design and key specs.
According to the new filing, which was shared by CNC, the Seal 07 EV will be slightly larger than the current Seal sedan, which has seen thousands make their way to Australia, and will measure 5,080 mm in length.
Powering the new sedan are two rear motor setup with the first one delivering a powerful 245 kW.
The top-spec version boosts that with output of up to 300 kW. With that powertrain, the top-speed for the car is set at 240 km/h.
This new model will have a kerb weight starting just under 2,000 kg and will be sitting on 18 and 19-inch wheels.
From the filings, it can be seen that it also will be equipped with LiDAR for an assisted driving system functionality.
Although no battery specifications were shared in the regulatory filing, the new Seal 07 is expected to come equipped with 1,500 kW Flash Charging tech, thanks to the new Blade Battery, as spotted in the previous model which was originally launched earlier this year.
That would allow charging times of 10-70% in just 5 minutes, using the company’s latest Flash Charging technology, unveiled in March this year.
Range-wise, the previous Seal 07 EV had an NEDC range of 705 km, likely over 550 km on the WLTP test cycle.
The previous version of this car in China comes with prices starting at the equivalent of under $A35,000. But this model is expected to command a higher price.
