South Korean brand, KGM, has officially launched its first electric ute in Australia, with prices coming in lower than expected and starting at around $60,000, before on road costs.

KGM, previously known as Ssangyong, received approval for its electric ute two months ago, and has now officially launched the Musso EV.

It will come in two variants – 2WD and AWD – and prices will begin at $60,000 before on-roads for the 2WD variant.

The three variants in the line-up, with their before on-road pricing coming in at:

  • Musso EV – $60,000
  • Musso EV Black Edge – $62,000
  • Musso EV AWD – $64,000

Joseph Lee, Managing Director at KGM Australia says Ā the Musso EV is purpose-built for lifestyle drivers who want practicality, efficiency and weekend-ready versatility in one package.

“It’s a vehicle that embraces the outdoor lifestyle while pushing the boundaries of innovation,” he said. “This highly anticipated new vehicle offers KGM Australia the opportunity to lead into the lifestyle electric Ute space.ā€

The announced pricing would put the Musso EV in the same pricing region as the popular BYD Shark 6 PHEV ute, which starts at $57,900.

The Musso, however, is fully electric. It is 5.16 metres long and has a tare weight which ranges between 2165 and 2,285 kg, making it one of the lighter electric utes on the market.

Powering the Musso EV is a 152 kW motor in the RWD version, while the AWD bumps that power up.

These variants are fed by a 80.6 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack. It can deliver up to 420 km on the WLTP cycle for the RWD variant. The AWD sees a slightly shorter range, coming in with 380 km. On top of that, vehicle-to-load (V2L) is available.

This battery can be fast charged at speeds of up to 120 kW. With this speed, the Musso EV can be fast-charged from 20-80% in 31 minutes, according to specs released for our market.

When it comes to towing, a 1,800 kg towing capacity is on offer, and as per the specs, the Musso EV will come with 17-inch alloy wheels. It also has a ground clearance of 181.4 cm, making it a reasonable ride height for this ute.

KGM is an acronym for KG Mobility based in South Korea and has recently been bringing in vehicles which were previously badged as Ssangyong.

EVs have started to take off in Australia, but the ute market has yet to see many EV models available to drivers. We had expected this ute to have pricing starts at around $A70,000, if European prices are anything to go by.

The Musso EV will come with a 7-Year unlimited kilometre warranty on the vehicle as well as a class-leading 10-year unlimited kilometre warranty on the battery pack.

It will arrive at selected KGM dealers in November with official sales beginning on 1 December 2025.
