Tesla continues to roll out new Superchargers at rapid pace.
Last month, Tesla opened the biggest fast charging site in Australia ā a 20-stall Tesla Supercharger facility in the city of Goulburn in NSW, making trips in an EV between Sydney and Canberra a whole lot easier.
Since then, Tesla has opened up three other sites, including one in Western Australia, which we were alerted to by Chris B, a regular reader of The Driven.
According to Chris, the new supercharging site with 6 V3 supercharger stalls that are rated up to 250 kW each has just opened in the town of Busselton, located on the way down to the Margaret River region.Ā
This charger should also divert traffic from the Eaton supercharger site, which is around 60 km north of Busselton. That site is also one of the earliest supercharger sites in the state, which remains operational today.
The next closest supercharger for non-Tesla drivers is further down the coast at Margaret River.
According to Teslaās website, the site is currently open to Tesla vehicles with a base rate of 52c/kWh, making it one of the most affordable fast chargers in the country.Ā
Another recent supercharger to open includes the Baulkham Hills in NSW, which is in the Hills District of Sydney. It has 4 V4 supercharger stalls with pricing starting at 40c/kWh at certain times of the day for Tesla vehicles, while non-Tesla vehicles can also charge there with prices starting at 55c/kWh.
The third recently opened site is in Keysborough, a southeastern suburb of Melbourne, with 6 V4 supercharger stalls.
Itās also open to non-Tesla EVs, with pricing for Tesla vehicles as low as 35c/kWh during off-peak hours of the day.
These new sites contribute to the major expansion of Australiaās most reliable charging network, which, as of September 2024, was reported to continue growing with more than 30 locations added across the country in under 12 months.
The expansion of the supercharger network will benefit not only Tesla owners but the broader Australian EV community, helping more drivers go further with confidence. With prices on some sites being the cheapest across any fast charging network in the country, itāll benefit many current and future EV drivers to travel further.
