Brisbane based EV charging and energy management start-up Evos has continued its overseas expansion, signing agreements to export its technology to Japan and being named the preferred EV charger supplier for the largest energy retailer in the Philippines.
Evos, which was founded in 2020 and combines electric vehicle (EV) charging hardware and cloud computing software, announced on Wednesday it has signed an agreement with Japanese manufacturer FKK to manufacturer and sell its EV chargers into the Japanese market.
The licensing agreement will enable FKK to produce Evos EV chargers for sale in Japan, Southeast Asia, and even nearby heavyweight India.
By partnering with FKK, Evos will be able to make use of FKK’s existing sales channels and geographical proximity to other markets, allowing it to more quickly export its technology into the region.
Conversely, for FKK – an advanced manufacturing company specialising in sparkplugs and LED components since it was established in 1954 – will ensure it can enter the EV charging space with a ready-made and proven technological solution, including Evos’ leading energy management cloud platform and Grid Integration Device (GID) systems.
FKK is already manufacturing Evos chargers under the newly announced agreement and is expecting to begin rolling them out to customers near the middle of the year.
“FKK has proven in over 70 years of operation that they manufacture with precision and develop high quality, advanced products,” said Marcelo Salgado, Evos CEO and co-founder.
“Our suite of chargers manufactured by FKK will be no exception.
“This agreement ensures that we can create chargers that suit the Japanese market, which is a logical market for us to enter given its established shipping lanes to other high-growth EV markets and free trade agreements with nations such as India.”
While Evos will also continue to manufacturer EV chargers for its home market, it will also continue to engineer and design products for global markets, such as the Philippines, where it was just announced as preferred EV charger supplier for Movem, the largest energy retailer in the Philippines.
