Korea car maker Kia has released some details for its much anticipated Australian launch of the seven-seater EV9 electric people mover, the biggest EV to arrive on Australian roads to date.
With deliveries to begin in Q1 2024, those in the market for what will be the largest electric people-carrier in Australia will have three models of the EV9 to choose from – Air, Earth, and GT-Line – stretching in price from $97,000 to $121,000.
Range for the models extends from around 440kms to more than 500kms, with the top of the range GTLine also delivering acceleration from 0-100 in just 5.3 seconds.
Kia – a sister company to Hyundai – have already introduced the highly admired EV6, a performance SUV built on the same platform as Hyundai’s Ioniq 5, and it has also produced the Niro.
The EV9 opens a new frontier for the EV market in Australia, but delivery times are likely to stretch to a few months with only 100 vehicles arriving on Australian shores per month initially.
