Australia’s first luxury people mover, LDV’s MIFA 9, has been awarded a five-star ANCAP rating by Australia’s independent safety assessment authority.
The MIFA 9 scored highly across the 4 key areas. The awarded results from ANCAP were:
- 93% for Adult Occupant protection
- 88% for Child Occupant protection
- 90% for Safety Assist features
- 73% for Vulnerable Road User protection
According to ANCAP, the LDV MIFA 9 scored maximum points for the protection of the driver and small female rear passenger in the full-width frontal test.
The MIFA 9 is the only model aside from the Mercedes-Benz C-Class to have achieved a maximum score in this test to the current criteria.
On the back of the five-star rating from ANCAP, LDV’s General Manager, Dinesh Chinnappa stated:
“We were confident that the all-new LDV MIFA 9 would deliver a strong result from its Euro NCAP testing which would, in turn, bode well locally with ANCAP and the supplementary testing required in Australia.
“LDV is leading the way in the electrification of vehicles in Australia, so to have an independent safety endorsement on the capability of our latest vehicle is a testament to how the brand is progressing”
We test-drove the MIFA 9 last month and found it quite spacious inside without feeling like a large people mover.
It is offered in three variants with prices starting from $106,000 before on-roads:
- Mifa 9 Mode – $106,000 before on-roads
- Mifa 9 Executive – $117,000 before on-roads
- Mifa 9 Luxe – $131,000 before on-roads
The MIFA 9 comes with 440 km of range. The front wheel drivetrain is powered by a 90kWh battery pack which produces 180 kW of power and 350 Nm of torque.
The MIFA 9 comes with a 5 years/200,000 km warranty on the vehicle and 8 years on the battery pack.
As EVs require less servicing than traditional ICE vehicles, service intervals on the MIFA 9 are every 2 years or 30,000 km, whichever comes first.
With ANCAP’s tick of approval, the MIFA 9 can now be considered by families as well as corporate and business fleet customers. The latter requires an ANCAP five-star rating before procuring vehicles.
With this in mind, we will be seeing more EVs doing trips between our airports to the cities in the coming years. This will help decarbonise part of our transport network as we look to reduce emissions in our cities.
