A new luxury EV brand , whose first vehicles were spotted testing in Australia in July, has confirmed it will enter the market in early 2027 with its first electric SUV.
Avatr, part of the Changan Group, aims to open pre-orders for its first model, the Avatr S07L SUV, by the end of 2026, featuring 800V architecture, rapid-charging tech, and a Meridian audio system.

“The Avatar 07L embodies that philosophy. It is more than our first vehicle in Australia; it is the first expression of what we believe premium mobility can become.”
Avatr is a premium Chinese EV brand created as a joint venture between three industry giants. These include the auto manufacturer Changan, the battery manufacturer CATL, and the tech company Huawei.
It was founded in 2018 and is headquartered in Chongqing, China, with design and engineering hubs sitting in Shanghai and Munich, Germany.
The Avatar 07L was sighted in New South Wales and has been testing ahead of the model’s launch in Q4 2026.
The 07 is currently sold in right-hand-drive markets like Thailand and Singapore, which has a standard wheelbase. The long-wheelbase version of the 07 is the 07L and was first teased on May 8, 2026.
Avatr incorporates the latest infotainment and autonomous driving tech as well as using CATL’s latest batteries, featuring some of the fastest charging batteries on the market.
The 07L is one of its newer models and has been produced in China since earlier this year. In China, the EV variant comes with an 89.3 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery from CATL. This is the CATL Shenxing battery, which can charge from 30-80% in 10 minutes.
This pack will help the car reach a CLTC range of up to 650 km, which is likely to be closer to 500 km on the WLTP cycle, more commonly used in Australia.
Coming in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations, it can get the car from 0-100 km/h in as little as 3.7 seconds, reaching a top speed of 200 km/h.
More details on the brand, the 07L local specs, variants and pricing are expected closer to launch in the coming months.
