Exploren, an up-and-coming leading EV public charging company in Australia, has committed $30 million over the next two years to expand its charging network and add more than 600 new DC fast chargers.
This investment is expected to fund not only new sites but also improvements and modernisations to public EV charging sites across Australia.
The charging network is also expected to focus on ongoing upgrades and maintenance across the existing network.
According to Exploren, there is also a strong focus on delivering new contactless payment options for drivers, making EV charging more convenient, reliable and accessible, rather than relying on multiple app downloads before charging at public charging sites.
“As more Australians move to electric vehicles, charging needs to be as simple and familiar as refuelling. This investment is about making charging easier to access, easier to use, and easier to trust,” said Sam Korkees, co-founder of Exploren.
“We are investing in expanding the network, maintaining charge infrastructure that already exists and introducing more payment options so drivers can choose what works best for them. Whether you prefer to tap your card or use the Exploren app, public charging should be accessible for everyone. We are investing to make EV ownership practical for more Australians.”
Of the more than 600sites mentioned above, the company aims to deliver many with DC chargers that have 200 kW+ fast-charging plug capability in convenient locations.
EVs have started to show big growth in many parts of the Australian car market, with over 150,000 BEVs making it onto our roads this year alone, straining demand on charging infrastructure.
Exploren is part of EVSE Australia, which delivers EV charging accessories such as cables to EV drivers and industry.
It currently supports public, workplace, fleet and destination charging through an integrated platform for charger access, payments, monitoring and management.
In 2025, the company acquired the Australian and New Zealand EV charging network of global energy and services group Engie.
That acquisition added over 200 new charging locations to those already operated by EVSE’s sister company, the Exploren Charging Network, including at Australia’s largest shopping centre, Chadstone Shopping Centre in Melbourne’s southeast.
The latest investment announcement will be well received by EV drivers as tens of thousands of new EVs are added to our roads every year.
