Tesla has added a new incentive to both the Model 3 and Model Y electric cars with a new $2,000 trade-in offer that is valid for the rest of the calendar year.
The company states that until December 31, interested buyers of a new or demo Model Y or Model 3 will receive $2,000 off the purchase price when trading in a used vehicle.
The news was also shared on the company’s local X page, with the latest post saying: “$2k trade-in bonus for new Model 3 & Y”.
This offer is available to eligible owners if they take delivery of a new or demo Model Y or Model 3 by 31 December 2026.
The latest offering comes after a bumper few months for the brand, with May and June seeing record sales set by the Model Y in the Australian market. In June, the Tesla Model Y saw the highest monthly sales for decades, with over 8,000 sales. In July, sales continued at more than 4,400 a record for the month.
Tesla’s previously best-seller, the Model 3, has seen slowing sales this year as more buyers shift towards SUV models.
That’s been without any incentives offered by the brand since earlier this year so the latest round could spark some interest in buyers looking for their first EV with the added trade-in bonus.
All new purchases of Model Y vehicles now come with Tesla’s recently upgraded 5-year unlimited km warranty for any buyers who get into a car as of the start of 2026. This warranty is up from the previous 4-year or 80,000 km warranty on offer.
In Australia, Tesla offers the Model Y in four variants, including Premium RWD, Premium AWD Long Range, AWD 6-seater L, AWD Performance.
Model 3 sedan comes in three variants, which include Premium RWD, Premium RWD Long Range, and AWD Performance.
Pricing of the RWD Model Y single-motor starts at $58,900 and goes to $89,400 for the Performance variant before on-road costs. Similarly, the Model 3 sees its pricing range from $54,900 for the entry-level model, all the way to $80,900 before on-road costs for the Performance variant.
