Volvo says its new EX60, a luxury all-electric mid-size SUV with a range of up to 660 km of range, which will be available from $86,990 before on-road costs when it lands later this year, has obtained regulatory approval in Australia.
The EX60 is the brand’s sixth EV in Australia, and comes with 2.4-tonne towing.
It has now been spotted on the ROVER approval-for-sale register, offered in two variants: the EX60 Single Motor RWDand the EX60 Twin Motor AWD.
The 4.8-metre-long SUV will be available with a height of 1.63 metres and a running clearance of 178 mm. Both variants will weigh between 2.1 and 2.3 tonnes, depending on the powertrain configurations.
Braked towing is approved for up to 2,400 kg for the AWD variant, while the RWD variant gets 2,000 kg. Non-braked towing is limited to 750 kg across these variants.
Battery details for the EX60 show that it will come equipped with an 800 V architecture, with the RWD coming with an 83 kWh pack. The AWD gets a bump in capacity to 95 kWh.
On the range front, 610 km is offered with the Single Motor RWD, which can be bumped up to 660 km for the Twin Motor AWD on the WLTP cycle.
Powertrain for the RWD variant includes a 275 kW powertrain, helping the car get from 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds.
The AWD variant bumps that up to a 375 kW powertrain, reducing the 0-100 km/h time to just 4.6 seconds. Both variants have a top speed of 180 km/h.
Previously, local pricing of both variants has been released, coming in at $86,990 before on-roads for the entry RWD variant. The AWD sees that rise to $101,990 before on-roads.
Local launch for what is expected to be Volvo’s best-selling EV when it lands is expected in the coming months.
Currently, Volvo sells the EX30, EX40, EC40, ES90 and EX90 in the local market as its EV lineup, which, with the upcoming EX60, will expand to 6 EVs.
