Geely unveils latest “Golden Brick” battery, with even faster charging speeds for EVs

Geely, one of the fastest growing automotive companies, has unveiled the latest version of its Golden Brick battery, capable of peak charging speeds of 1,100 kW and charging times from 10% to 70% in less than 4 minutes and 30 seconds.

The latest pack will come with a 95 kWh capacity and is based on the 900 V architecture, outdoing the previous 800 V capable Golden Brick battery.

According to the specs, this battery which will first feature on the company’s Lynk & Co branded 10+ sedan, it can also charge the battery from 10-97% in just 8 minutes and 42 seconds.

The charging curve on this model with the latest battery pack has been seen to sustain 500 kW, even at the 80% State of Charge (SoC).

At around 97% SoC, this battery can still take over 300 kW of charging power.

During the charging cycle, the Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) pack got to a maximum charging temperature of 64 C, which is maintained by a new liquid cooling system adopted by this battery.

These times are comparable to BYD’s latest Flash Charging tech, first unveiled in March 2026.

Geely, through its Zeekr Power charging network, is expected to open stations which can support these remarkable charging speeds in China.

Last year, Zeekr’s Australia-bound 7X electric SUV with the company’s previous generation Golden Brick battery saw a real world fast-charging time of under 10 minutes.

In a real-world charging test, Kyle, a YouTuber from the US, did a charging test in which charging speeds approached 470 kW, helping the car get from 0-70% in under 10 minutes.

Similarly, charging from 10-80% was achieved in under 10 minutes, with charging speeds of 250 kW still seen even at that high state of charge.

The time has clearly been brought down with the latest version of the battery, with 10-80% now coming in under expected 6 minutes.

The previous test took around 20 minutes, and the Zeekr 7X was charged at a Zeekr Power charging site in Ningbo.

This site has eight stalls with about 800 kW of available power across its dispensers, and the Zeekr 7X was able to pull speeds of up to 470 kW from one of them.

With competition in the ultra fast charging battery space only ramping up, it’s good to see multiple brands bringing in solutions and charging times to all time lows. That’s expected to make the perceived range anxiety a thing of the past.
