Xpeng, a Chinese tech-driven eclectic car maker, has been on a path to expanding into dozens of international markets with new tech-driven models.
The brand has teased some details of its upcoming affordable electric SUV that will feature one of the lowest coefficients of drag of electric SUVs to date.
On the brandās Weibo page, the company shared a post on its upcoming Mona L03 electric SUV, highlighting the aerodynamics and expected coefficient of drag: āItās aerodynamic! The XPengMONA L03 boasts a drag coefficient as low as Cd0.228.āĀ
This low drag efficient is mainly driven by design elements that Xpeng says will feature a ācoupe-like stance and cleaner linesā, extra-wide, high-curvature rear windshield, bolder surfaces as well as a ā270° flat panoramic cockpit, frameless doors, starship headlightsā.
For comparison, the Tesla Model Y features a coefficient of drag of around 0.22
Although details around this havenāt been confirmed, this model is expected to be available in both BEV and Extended Range powertrains.
For the BEV, the 4.65 metre long vehicle is expected to deliver a top speed of up to 180 km/h, which was previously spotted in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) documentation in China.

Reports from CNC also hint that the BEV variant will be powered by two Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries with capacities of 56 and 69 kWh.
These will deliver range of 505 and 650 km on the CLTC cycle, respectively, which is likely to be between 400-530 km on the WLTP cycle.
When it comes to the powertrain, this version is expected to be powered by a 183 kW single motor, with more details on the key specs to be limited.
Xpeng launched its Mona brand in late 2024 with the M03 sedan, which has seen massive popularity.
In November 2025, Xpeng announced that it had officially produced one million EVs, 11 years after the company began in China.
Mona M03 sedan model itself contributed heavily to the 1 million produced EVs at that point, thanks to its affordable price point and tech on offer in China.Ā

Over 270,000 Mona vehicles have been produced so far, and the success of that model sets big goals for the L03 SUV when it launches in the coming months.
With good aerodynamics and the success of the M03 sedan behind it, the L03 could be Xpengās best-selling model in the near future.
In Australia, Xpeng has sold over 2,000 G6 SUVs and is set to officially launch the new G6 in the coming weeks, backed by solid tech, an 800 V architecture, and a comfort-driven interior.
We have tested the M03 in China in July last year and expect to do the same with the L03 to see how it performs from a drivability, efficiency and self-driving tech point of view.
