South Korean automaker Kia has unveiled full pricing and specifications in the United Kingdom for its upcoming EV2, with a starting price of £24,245 drive-away, which would convert to around $A46,500.
The EV2 is Kia’s sixth dedicated electric vehicle (EV) model and its smallest yet, and debuted at the 2026 Brussels Motor Show in Belgium earlier this year, although it is still unclear if it will be sold in Australia.
It boasts a driving range of up to 450 kilometres as well as bidirectional charging, and will be available in two battery options from launch – 42.2 kWh and 61 kWh.
The fully electric B-segment compact SUV seats five and is built on the company’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), powered by a front-mounted electric motor putting out power of up to 99.5 kW for most models, providing acceleration from 0-100km/h of 9.2 seconds.
The EV2 will be available in a line-up that is similar to the rest of Kia’s EV line-up, including the entry-level long-range ‘Air’, a standard-range ‘First Edition’, and the long-range top-of-the-line ‘GT-Line’ and ‘GT-Line S’.
The EV2 ‘First Edition’ is the only model to feature the 42.2 kWh “standard-range” battery pack, but will put out greater power of 107.5 kW, or 144 hp, allowing for acceleration of 8.7 seconds.
Models fitted with the 61 kWh battery pack will also feature a “slightly detuned” front motor designed to maximise efficiency.
All four models, however, boast maximum torque of 250 Nm and a maximum speed of 100 miles per hour.
Pricing for the entry-level EV2 Air will start from £27,995 on-the-road (OTR), £28,495 for the First Edition, £32,745 for the GT-Line and £36,345 for the top-of-the-line GT-Line S.
Kia is also offering a Reservation Saving even as the company awaits on confirmation that the EV2 will be eligible for the UK government’s Electric Car Grant (ECG). The reservation saving for the EV2 First Edition will be £1,500, while a £3,750 saving will be available for the other three models.
And while pricing can vary from country to country even after conversion, being a right-hand drive country makes the UK a helpful benchmark for reading the tealeaves of a potential Australian launch. That being said, Kia’s current stance is that the EV2 has been designed, engineered, and manufactured in Europe “exclusively for Europe”.
The EV2 is already available for reservations in the UK, with first customer deliveries expected to begin later in the year.
Full technical and technology specifications for all four EV2 models is available in full here.
