Geely throws in extra incentives, including free home charger, to help drive EX5 sales

Geely has extended sales incentives on its upgraded EX5 Extended Range model, offering 1.88% comparison rate finance over 36 months and a free home charger on eligible vehicles.

The move follows a $2,500 cashback offer that it had to help run out the last EX5 model, as the company looks to maintain sales momentum with its new Extended Range model, delivering up to 475 km of WLTP range. That is up from 430 km previously.

The offer applies to new in-stock EX5 vehicles purchased before 30 April 2026. Cars purchased by then will come with a 7 kW single-phase home charger, but that won’t include installation.Ā

On the company’s website, it says: ā€œGeely EX5 Extended Range: With up to 475km WLTP range, 1.88% p.a. Comparison Rate with No Deposit for a 36-Month Term. Plus Free EV Home Charger*. Offer Ends 30 April 2026.ā€Ā

With a bigger battery, the new Geely EX5 sees a $1,000 price increase across both Complete and Inspire variants and comes less than a year of the company’s launch in March 2025.

Since then, the EX5 SUV has sold over 4,000 cars, making it one of the most popular EVs on the market, thanks to the price vs feature list it offers.

In 2025, this model also landed in the top-5 best-selling EVs in the market during the year.Ā See The Driven’s data here for Australian EV sales by month in 2025, further broken down by model and by brand.

The EX5 is a fairly well-equipped SUV in our market that delivers 475 km of WLTP range, thanks to the new bigger 68 kWh Lithium-Iron-Phosphate (LFP) battery pack.Ā

Charging the car from 30-80% will take around 20 minutes with 100 kW peak DC charging speeds available, although owners have reported higher charging speeds on local fast-chargers.Ā

11 kW AC charging is also on offer for those with a three-phase power source, and on top of that, vehicle-to-load (V2L) is available with a discharge rate of up to 3.3 kW.

Given the success of the EX5, in December 2025, the company announced that it would be bringing in a small electric hatch called the EX2. This model has been China’s best-selling car in 2025 with over 460,000 sales there.

It will enter the market to compete with the BYD Dolphin and the recently launched GAC Aion UT, as well as the MG4 Urban EV.Ā

That model is expected to land in the second half of this year, further broadening Geely’s EV lineup locally, but it will be showcased in April at the Melbourne Motor Show.

With competition in the affordable electric SUVs only ramping up, the brand is looking at ways to incentivise buyers to help retain them in the long term.

Previously, Geely received multiple offers to incentivise buyers, from free charging to cashback of thousands of dollars per sale, which helped the brand maintain good volumes.

The latest round of incentives, even with the recent rise in EV interest, shows that competition in the mid-size electric SUV segment is quite fierce. It is likely to intensify even more as newer models enter the market in the months to come.

We will track how the offer went last month with March sales data to follow this week.
