In July, Tesla reached a new milestone by rolling out the worldās most reliable fast-charging network, announcing that it had installed over 70,000 Supercharger stalls globally. Since then, the companyās expansion has continued with a few new initiatives to help increase EV awareness.
Now, the latest initiative is the use of highway signage approaching rest stops, which have a Tesla logo on them, similar to those found on highways promoting petrol station rest stops today.
In a post on X, Tesla charging shared this with its first site in Arizona: āFirst highway sign with Superchargers, more to comeā.
The sign shows a highway exit signage which has the top half saying āGasā, while the bottom of the sign states āEV Chargingā.
Max de Zegher, Teslaās director for charging, shared further insights on the intention behind this style of signage on X: ā99.98%+ of roadtrips are already possible in the US in a Tesla. Tesla drivers know this through their vehicle touchscreen, but too many people have no clue. The first state-owned highway signs showing Tesla Superchargers are now going live.ā
Zegher also noted that this could help remind the general public driving on the highway about chargers along their route with further plans to rolling this out to future supercharger sites: āWe plan on rolling this out more broadly. Hopefully this helps with turning any range anxiety into range confidence for the general public.”
Tesla first started building its supercharger network 13 years ago. It has grown that network from around 5,000 stalls in 2017 to having over 70,000 stalls in 2025.
On top of that, over the last few years, the networkās growth has continued to accelerate, despite previously reported cuts in the staffing numbers in the supercharger team last year.

Teslaās supercharger network grew considerably in 2024, with over 11,500 new stalls opening in 2024. The year ended with over 67,000 stalls globally with the network delivering over 5.2 TWh of energy over 2024.
Tesla is continuing to roll out bigger and bigger sites, and here in Australia, still holds the title for opening and operating the countryās biggest charging sites.
The latest and Australiaās biggest fast charging site, with a 20-stall supercharger site, opening in recent months at Goulburn, NSW.
With the number of EVs increasing by the thousands every month in Australia and by hundreds of thousands globally, more reliable fast chargers with clearer signage will help EV drivers as well as create awareness amongst the general public, helping drive greater, more broader adoption of electric cars in the years to come.
