In order to boost sales in the final weeks of the year, Tesla has just extended its referral program to now offer $1,400 off the price of a new Model 3 or Model Y in Australia.
This latest offer applies to those new customers who have ordered a car through a referral code sent to them by an existing Tesla owner.
This news was shared by owners on X with one existing owner letting others know in a post.
Once new customers use the code, Teslaās online configurator automatically applied the referral code to the total with the website order page saying: āX’s Referral Applied, Order a new Model Y and receive: $1,400 Off of your Vehicle Subtotalā.
The referrers also receive $700 in Tesla account credits which can be used for accessories, supercharger credits and towards other Tesla products.

This extension of the referral program comes only days after multiple incentives came online to help the company have a strong finish to the year after a weak 2024 that has seen its sales in Australia slump by 20 per cent so far this year.
In the US, the brandās home market, Tesla is offering new customers up to $2,000 off the price of a new car, supercharging or other services via the referral program while the referrer gets $1,000 to be used in Teslaās ecosystem.
There are also offers in China, which is one of Teslaās most significant markets. New customers in China now get reduced prices on its Model Y by the equivalent of more than $A2,000. That’s on top of a 5-year interest free deal that will remain until the end of the year.
Heading over to Europe, one of the key initiatives to boost sales in Q4 will see the company offer up to 1 year of free supercharging for those customers who order and take the delivery of a new Model Y by the end of the year.
So far in 2024, Tesla has seen a decline in sales but the latest incentives like the referral program and leasing deals where $3,000 can be taken off the price of a newly leased Tesla, could help it gain sales momentum.
Some of the latest incentives could also be paving the way for what’s to come in early 2025, including a refreshed Model Y as well as a more affordable model to follow.
All in all, all these incentives will help Tesla to win the world’s best selling car award for a second year in a row, thanks to the sales it will get for current Tesla Model Y by the end of 2024.
