The historic gold mining town of Kalgoorlie-Boulder has joined the WA EV Network with the opening of a new 150kW fast charger and 22kW back-up charger, continuing the growth of what will be one of the world’s longest EV charging networks.
The WA EV Network is being rolled out across Western Australia by government owned utilities Synergy and Horizon Power.
Electric vehicle (EV) drivers can now comfortably make their way from Perth to Kalgoorlie, some 600kms from Perth, with operational WA EV Network fast-chargers already located along the route in Merredin, Southern Cross, and Coolgardie.
Further charging locations along the route to Kalgoorlie in Northam and Brookton will join the network, with plans for the WA EV Network to be “substantially completed” by the middle of the year.
When completed, 49 EV charging sites will have been added, located an average of less than 200 kilometres apart.
