Back in November, Tesla held its delivery event of its highly anticipated Cybertruck. One of accessories highlighted at the event wasĀ called the Basecamp, which turns the bed of the Cybertruck into a tent for camping.
Now, the Basecamp accessory is starting to ship out to customers who have taken delivery of their steel-bodied vehicles.
Brandon Williams, a Cybertruck owner in Texas, has shared a video of setting the Basecamp accessory up in the bed of the truck. According to Williams, the video is āa look at what it takes to install the Cybertruck Basecamp tent, how to deploy it, a look inside, and packing it back up.ā
It takes a few minutes to unbox the tent, followed by loading the bed with the case it arrived in. The setup process seems fairly straightforward with instructions manual included in the box.
The tent structure, including the legs which come with springloaded push-pins to lock them in place, can be extended out and then placed onto the bed of the truck, onto the opened tailgate.
Inflation of the tent can be done by closing the four valves found on the tent and filling it up with the pump supplied.

The supplied bed in the tent also has an air mattress which helps with improving the comfort levels when camping.
There are also a few storage pockets on the inside along with zipped openings to allow for lights or prevent insects/bugs from getting in.
According to those owners who have been able to purchase one, the pricing of the tent is set at $US3,000, which is on the high end. Having said that, the product does seem to fit the vehicle well and is of good quality.
On the back of this, another Cybertruck owner was quite pleased with the Basecamp saying: āPersonally I think the tent is pretty well designed, with a good amount of room at the base and good options for opening up to the sky on nights with good weather.
“If you have not tried it, having an air mattress for camping is a game changer and makes it SO much more comfortable. So to have that integrated is pretty nice, as with car camping I had taken to carrying a whole bulky inflatable queen mattress.ā
