The first of the new upgraded 2024 Tesla Model 3 electric sedans has been seen in Australia for the first time ahead of a series of special unveiling events and media previews in coming weeks.
The long-awaited upgrade of the Model 3 was first unveiled in September, and includes a number of changes to its exterior features, more range, and an improvement to the overall interior quality.
The first of these sedans was captured by EV enthusiast Anthony M in Melbourne and shared on Twitter/X.Ā The spotted vehicle has sleeker headlights seen in the new model which gives it away. It also appears to have the 18-inch standard wheels with the new aerocaps for added aerodynamics.
What could not be verified by this image is if this is the single-motor rear-wheel-drive (RWD) or the dual-motor Long Range variant.Ā
The new RWD and Long Range variants keep the existing battery packs but now offer an increased 513 km and 629 km of WLTP range respectively. This is up from 491 km and 602 km respectively.
This vehicle in the right-hand-drive configuration is likely to be in Melbourne for a showcase event that is going to be held exclusively for the members of the Tesla Owners Club Australia.

Itās also likely that this vehicle will be showcased in the showroom after the event for members of the public to see in the coming weeks and months.
In other markets, Tesla has showcased the new Model 3, white, ultra-red and stealth-grey. The ultra-red and stealth-grey are new paints offered on the Model 3 which are slightly deeper in appearance compared to the current variations of these colours.
Other changes on the outside include new taillights and rear indicator placements. The indicator light is longer than the smaller LED strips seen in the current model.
On the inside, the new model is expected to be quieter with a better sound system. While Tesla is offering a more plush interior, the stalks behind the steering wheel will no longer be carried over from the current model.
The new model test-drives are expected to begin before Christmas with first customer deliveries likely to follow in the new year. Delivery times for the new model are still January – March 2024.
