Back in August, MG officially launched it’s MG4 by holding a test-drive event at the Rabbitohs Heffron High Performance Centre in Maroubra. At that time, MG announced the four variants available to local drivers and hints that a surprise performance variant was still to come.

MG has now confirmed this special variant and has revealed the pricing performance MG4 electric hatchback which it will call MG4 Xpower.Ā

Starting at $59,990 before on-road costs, the all-wheel-drive powertrain delivers up to 320 kW and 600 Nm of torque. Splitting the drivetrain, the rear motor delivers 170 kW while the front can produce up to 150 kW when needed.Ā

This helps MG4 Xpower get from 0-100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. This makes it MG’s most powerful car in the Australian market.

The Xpower motors are paired with a 64 kWh battery which can be fast-charged at speeds of up to 140 kW. This means the battery can be charged from 10-80% in 26 minutes.

ā€œThe MG4 Xpower has supercar performance packed with features including launch control and a track mode inspired lap timer showing that a compact EV can be affordable, practical and spirited to drive,ā€ MG Motor Australia and New Zealand CEO, Peter Ciao said in a statement.

To make the new Xpower stand out from the rest of the range, this model gets:

  • 18″ Cyclone Alloy Wheels with Orange Calipers
  • Two-tone black roof
  • Exclusive ā€œHunter Greenā€ paint option
  • Track mode lap timer

On the hot–hatch–like performance, Ciao outlined why the Xpower is sure to make a mark amongst buyers looking at a sporty hatchback with lots of technology.
ā€œWe expect it will appeal to customers looking for a true performance car with plenty of technology and space to match. The MG4 Xpower EV also retains the generous safety equipment levels, as well as practical hatchback features, of the award-winning MG4 range.ā€

  • Damper tuning
  • Stiffer anti-roll barsĀ
  • Sharper steering.

On top of the suspension upgrades, the new MG4 Xpower comes with upgraded ventilated brakes with 345mm discs as well as Bridgestone Turanza tyres for added grip on the road.

Interested MG4 Xpower buyers can register their interest from October 6, 2023.
