EVs and over-the-air (OTA) software updates go hand-in-hand. Now Polestar has announced one of the biggest ones so far containing entertainment, phone connectivity enhancements and improved range monitoring.
This OTA software update will include:
- YouTube app
- Apple CarPlay
- Rang Assistant

These are part of the fifteenth OTA update P2.9 for Polestar 2 cars.
“YouTube is great for entertainment while charging, and our updated Range Assistant app delivers more accurate predictions and supports an improved driving style,” Polestar CEO, Thomas Ingenlath said.
“Bringing Apple Maps to the driver display is one of many important updates to Apple CarPlay in Polestar 2.ā
The YouTube app will provide extra entertainment which Tesla owners have enjoyed for years now so this will be a great addition to Polestar 2 as well.
Since the Polestar 2 already runs an Android-based Google operating system, it has many of the features that Android phone users may use.
For Apple iPhone users, the new Polestar update has taken that phone connectivity one step further. The Apple CarPlay feature now includes:
- More iPhone and media information on the home screen
- Taking and rejecting calls from the steering wheel buttons
- Apple Maps to be included in the carās driver display screen
The final major feature as part of this update provides better range calculations from Polestarās built-in Range Assistant app.Ā
The driver can now monitor the energy consumption of the car over the last 20, 40 or 100 km which will allow for enhancing driving styles to improve the carās efficiency.Ā
It also includes real-time information about the energy consumption of the car thanks to updated algorithms, which helps the driver by showing a more accurate range figure in the driverās display.
This update will also be pre-installed on all new Polestar 2 cars produced and is coming to all Polestar 2 cars already delivered in Australia.
