Tesla has delivered more cars in 2022 so far than they did in all of 2021. With the massive increase in Tesla deliveries, Tesla is continuing to ramp up its supercharging network in Australia.Ā
Late last week, Tesla accidentally revealed the addresses of many of its upcoming Tesla superchargers, including details of 20 upcoming sites in Australia. These locations were quickly saved by many Tesla enthusiasts and posted across social media and forums.
Largest EV charging network in Australia continues to grow
With the launch of Model Y, the number of Teslas on the roads has increased significantly. Many of them will be relying on the Tesla supercharger network while on road trips.Ā
The proposed locations of 20 of the sites were briefly revealed on Teslaās supercharger list page. These included locations in all states.
Tesla currently has 51 active sites across Australia. With over 260 active DC fast charging stalls, Tesla’s network of Superchargers is by far the largest DC fast charging network in the country.
The current 51 sites include a combination of V2 and the latest V3 superchargers. The latter version can supply up to 250 kW of charging.Ā
There has also been talk of V4 superchargers but that rollout is starting out in the US first with a location in the state of Arizona. Given most of the revealed locations are expected to be opened by Q1 2023, they are more than likely to feature the current V3 superchargers in Australia.
These sites are also tentative and not fully confirmed until very close to their opening. That means that these locations are a guide of where the sites might be. It does give a good idea of the areas Tesla would like to increase their supercharger network in the coming 12 months.
Overall, this is very good news for Tesla owners and EVs in general as itād take pressure off some of the public DC fast-charging networks. EV road trippers will have many more options for charging in 2023.
