South Korean automaker Hyundai has begun teasing the upcoming Ioniq 6, the second model in the company’s all-electric vehicle lineup.
Hyundai published the first in a series of teaser images on Tuesday with a promise of more to come on the company’s official social media channels and the Ioniq 6 Campaign Page.
Described as the “Electrified Streamliner”, the concept sketch of the Ioniq 6 represents “Hyundai’s new design typology of the electric mobility era.” it says it is inspired by the Hyundai Prophecy concept EV, focusing on a “purely aerodynamic form” and echo many of the early spaceship designs of the mid-20th century.
The full unveiling of the Ioniq 6 is expected later this month and, like the Ioniq 5, will be built on Hyundai Motor Group’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP).
Due to debut this year, the Ioniq 6 has been seen in some guises already, such as at the IAA motor show in Munich in September 2021. Earlier this year the Ioniq 6 was spotted in its camouflage on the back of a truck, with some design evolution from what was on display at IAA.
The good news for Australians is that the Ioniq 6 is reportedly “on track” to launch in Australia later this year.
