The vehicle fulfilment company that processes all of Tesla’s newly shipped cars ahead of delivery in Australia has installed more than 30 electric vehicle chargers at its facilities across the country, in a “proactive” move to cater to a growing EV market.
AutoNexus said on Thursday that it had partnered with EVSE to roll out a scalable, intelligent EV charging solution that would allow each of its processing facilities to charge multiple EV’s using high powered 22kW systems.
The company said the need to charge multiple cars at scale as part of the delivery process had been posing a significant challenge to new and established electric vehicle brands in Australia and creating a “roadblock” to mass adoption of EVs.
As The Driven has reported, sales and deliveries of Australia’s leading EV brand – Tesla – slowed in the second half of 2021, even shifting more slowly from the docks to AutoNexus. But shipments of Teslas to Australia were also fewer and further between over the past year, due to the global semiconductor shortage.
Whatever the market forces going forward, however, AutoNexus says the deal with EVSE will allow it to keep up its role as “electric vehicle fulfilment partner of choice” providing crucial support for the growth of electric vehicle market.
“Our partnership with EVSE and the installation of chargers across all our sites marks a significant upgrade in the electric vehicle infrastructure of AutoNexus facilities and ensures we are ready to support the growing electric vehicle needs of our current and future OEM partners,” said AutoNexus managing director, Darren Bowler.
“This proactive investment places AutoNexus in a unique position in the vehicle logistics market and ensures we are the partner of choice to support any brand’s electric vehicle requirements from the moment they arrive at our vehicle compounds.”
For its part EVSE said it was impressed by the AutoNexus’ “EV ambitions” and its organised and efficient approach to business.
“We were able to coordinate a nationwide roll out in under three weeks and we hope to continue to work with AutoNexus as they move towards a clean energy future,” said EVSE national sales manager Sam Korkees.
