Australian electric scooter manufacturer Fonz (formerly known as Fonzerelli) has launched the 2022 edition of its most popular model Arthur 2.
The Arthur 2 model sits in the middle of a 3-tier offering from Fonz Moto, with the other two models simply known as Arthur 1 and Arthur 3. In 2020 I used the ARTHUR 3 as my primary vehicle for 3 days and found it to be a great little scooter for inner-city use with a range of up to 50km.
The new Arthur 2 will offer 30% more range (up to 65km), but perhaps even more notably it will have enough room in its frame to carry an extra battery pack, effectively allowing you to double your maximum range to an impressive 130km.
The battery packs in the Arthur 2 are portable allowing you to bring them inside your home or office to recharge.
In addition to an extra battery pack, the 2022 Arthur 2 also has the option of adding Type 2 charging capability, meaning you’ll be able to plug into existing public EV charging infrastructure.
Fonz founder Michelle Nazzari believes this will be a game-changer for new Arthur 2 owners.
“Reducing the range anxiety with more battery grunt and multiple charging options allows our riders to increase their travelling distance well beyond a commute, allowing Arthur – our most popular seller – to step up as their chief vehicle for longer, leisurely trips.
“They can double up their battery power, charge on the growing EV network and still have the option to remove the power pack and charge indoors as they travel extensively to different destinations.”
“There’s a lot of Federal investment going into the charging infrastructure works for EV cars, so we always knew we had to develop our own adaptors to ensure our riders didn’t get left behind.”
For the month of November all new owners of the Arthur 2 can be able to receive a free performance and charger upgrade worth $520, giving them the extra range of the new model as well as the Type 2 charging option.
“This is an important offering for new customers but we also want our existing owners to know that the tech we’re developing can be added to their vehicle too, and they can contact us to book an upgrade if they want to invest in the extra charging capability.
“For an environmentally conscious vehicle, it makes sense to upgrade the parts and the tech – not the whole vehicle. After all, we’re all about making things last and working harder for us and for our environment.”
Preorders for the 2022 Arthur 2 are now available with deliveries to begin before Christmas.
