AGL’s head of distributed energy Dominique van den Berg joins The Driven podcast to discuss some remarkable predictions for EVs, who will own them and their role as a virtual power plant.

van deb Berg believes that by 2030, half of all new car sales in Australia will be electric. Maybe more. And autonomous vehicles will mean that in big cities, a large part of the fleet will be autonomous, and not owned by individuals but car sharing operators.

So what does this mean for the consumer, and for big companies such as AGL? One is the deployment of EVs as part of a “virtual power plant” – a future where nearly half of all our power needs come from assets such as rooftop solar, battery storage and electric vehicles.
