Motorcycle importer Urban Moto has inked an agreement with electric motorbike maker Super SOCO to bring its nimble all-electric bikes to Australia and New Zealand, starting next year.
On display last weekend at the Moto Expo in Melbourne, Super SOCO’s bikes include the cafe style Super SOCO TS which has a 1.56kWh battery, 64km range and maximum speed of 45km/hr; and the Super SOCO TC which has a 1.8kWh battery and similar range and speed.
Both of these models will arrive on Australian and NZ shores from next year, as well as the scooter-style CUx which isn’t just for getting around, it would seem. This model also features an in-built camera in the steering column and the ability to share imagery while on the road.
The expansion into the Australian and NZ market from 2019 extends Super SOCO’s current reach from the UK to Europe, to China, and another 54 countries across the world.
“We are very delighted to reached agreement with Urban Moto Imports… to distribute Vmoto’s Super SOCO electric vehicle products in Australia and New Zealand market,” said Charles Chen, CEO of Vmoto, which markets the brand, in a statement.
“With Urban Moto Imports’ strong dealership network in Australia and New Zealand and its professionalism in the motorcycle industry, we are very excited and confident that the exceptional quality and design of Super SOCO electric motorcycles will be embraced and celebrated by consumers in Australian and New Zealand,” he said.
For its part, Urban Moto is convinced that with the rise of popularity in alternative-fuelled vehicles, the introduction of Super SOCO’s bikes and scooter will be welcomed on the Australian market.
“We are in a forever changing landscape for both motorcycles, motorcycle culture and transport for the general public.
“Electric powered vehicles are already beginning to become the norm and we are very confident it will lead the way in the electric motorcycles space,” said Joseph Elasmar, CEO of Urban Moto in a statement.
Although there have not yet been any Australian prices announced, Super SOCO has already positioned itself competitively on the UK market, where the Super SOCO TS goes for an asking price of £2,936.50 (about $A5,155) before on-road costs, and the TC goes for £3,561.25 (about $A6250) before on road costs.
