Japanese carmaker Subaru is pushing hard to ensure that its Trailseeker “Sport Electric Vehicle (SEV)” hits the right note with Australians, unveiling an optional integrated spare wheel kit as well as a towbar option.
The Subaru Trailseeker – essentially an EV version of the popular Outback – has already debuted in Australia, currently priced from just under $70,000 driveaway, the company has added two new options available for new and existing models that the carmaker hopes will leave the car “better equipped for Australian adventures.”
A new fully integrated “Underfloor Spare Wheel Kit” is now available as an optional extra, priced from $1,145 and neatly packaged beneath the cargo floor so as to save space.
This makes the Subaru Trailseeker one of the very few electric vehicles (EVs) in Australia with the option for a spare wheel – something its identical Toyota twin, the bZ4X Touring, doesn’t offer.
The space-saver wheel is designed to fit snug beneath the floor of the boot, preserving luggage capacity, and can be fitted to both new customer orders and vehicles already out on the road.
Pre-orders are now open through the Subaru Retailer network and fitment scheduled prior to Christmas.
Subaru is also offering for the first time a Genuine Subaru Australia Towbar, purpose-engineered for the Trailseeker and offering a braked towing capacity of 1,500kg and an unbraked towing capacity of 750kg.
The towbar is priced at $1,189.59 and available for pre-order now with fitment also scheduled before Christmas.
