Tesla’s full-self-driving (FSD) software is now available outside of the US and Canada for the first time with the launch of the software in a new market this week.

Owners of Tesla vehicles in Mexico were surprised to see FSD supervised available in their vehicles, with some taking it to X to showcase the car driving itself to a destination.

To one of these videos, Tesla’s AI team confirmed the arrival with a post saying ā€œĀ”Hola MĆ©xico!ā€ which translates to hello Mexico.

This is a major step in the FSD beta, leaving the roads the software is very familiar with in the US and Canada to a new market.

Tesla has previously noted that it aims to expand the program from the US to Europe, China and other markets in 2025, so this could be the start of that as the company feels more confident with its capabilities.

On the back of this, a few local EV and FSD enthusiasts were keen to see if Tesla’s AI team could provide any hints on a right-hand-drive version for Australia.

Jason C from Tech Au replied to this post and said: ā€œI assume this is the same model being used across US/Canada and now Mexico? Impressive! Let’s get that RHD model out the door. šŸ‡¦šŸ‡ŗā€

Tesla’s FSD has been a long time coming, with many technological advancements happening during the process.Ā

Over the last couple of years, the software has gone from a non-public release to a beta for select owners in the US before expanding into Canada. It then had a broader release under the FSD supervised for everyone with the FSD package in both markets.Ā

In January 2025, at a Tesla earnings call, CEO Elon Musk noted that the company will be launching unsupervised self-driving ā€œfull-serviceā€ with no one in the car in Austin, Texas by June, followed by California and other parts of the US by the end of 2025.

Musk also hinted at how Tesla is currently training its model for the Chinese market and what are the next steps for landing in Europe as well.

Tesla appears to be more confident with the progress of the FSD program in late 2024 and into 2025 with not only this expansion into Mexico but also showcasing what the software is capable of doing when it’s in vehicles around its factory as they come off the production line.

Just prior to that earnings call, a video shared on X showed that Tesla’s vehicles can drive themselves from the end of production at their Fremont factory to their designated transit parking spots at the factory.
