There are not too many EV owners and enthusiasts who havenāt heard of Rivian. And rightly so: its rugged R1T electric ute and R1S electric SUV offer high-specced utility to a growing EV market.
Now, the latest figures from Rivian show it is making in-roads toward its production goals. The off-roading EV ute and SUV specialist ramped up its production by 67% in Q3 of 2022 when compared to its previous quarter.
In Q3, Rivian produced 7,363 EV utes and SUVs that are primarily designed with off-roading in mind. Out of those EVs produced, 6,584 of them were delivered to US customers out of the Normal Illinois production plant.

Rivian has set a goal for the production of 25,000 EVs in 2022 and the company reporting of the Q3 production numbers reiterated this goal.Ā
To date, Rivian has produced over 15,000 EVs in 2022. To achieve production of 25,000 EVs a year, Rivian needs at least a 35% increase in production from Q3 levels.
Rivian managed a significant increase in EV production while keeping to its plans of further future ramp-ups. That would come in the form of a new multi-billion dollar factory in the US state of Georgia.

Rivian also has electric van plans
Rivian also has large plans to produce large amounts of vans for Amazon as well as plans to sell these EV vans to non-Amazon customers by next year in 2023.Ā
Another new partnership for Rivian has been the one with Mercedes-Benz vans where a memorandum of understanding for joint production of electric vans has been announced.
The future for Rivian is very bright if it can ramp production up as targeted. In a ute-loving country like Australia, there will be no shortage of customers when Rivian can produce and deliver right-hand drive versions of their R1S and R1T ground-up EVs to our shores.
