Danish boat maker Rand Boats has expanded its electric boat line-up to five models, adding a new 23 foot (7m) cruiser known as the Mana 23 and an additional power output option to its top-of-the-range 28 foot Leisure 28.
With a focus on development of clean energy options, the 7-year-old Rand Boats founded by Copenhagen architect Karl Rai Rand draws strongly on Scandinavian design.
As a result its boats are a paragon of simple yet classic style, and for its electrically propelled models, also a sustainable take on boat making.
From foam kernels made of recycled plastic bottles, bio-based hybrid materials, to decks and tables made of sustainably-forested wood, Rand combines a green approach with high-tech electric propulsion.
The new models and options from Rand include the €43,000 ($A73,570 converted) Mana, which it says has a “plug-and-play” ease of use, and is offered with a range of battery capacity options to suit needs, and pockets.
It is joined by the top-level Leisure 28 – the only model with a closed bow – as well as the entry-level 18 foot Picnic 18, the only model available in Australia as an electric option. The mid-range Play 24 and Supreme 27 complete the picture.
New propulsion options for the Leisure 28 mean that there are now motors ranging from a diminutive 4kW all the way up to a powerful 240kW.
