MG has introduced a new cashback offer on its biggest electric SUV, the recently launched MGS6, offering $1,000 in cash back on purchases made before the end of this year.
The MGS6 SUV launched earlier this year with a starting price of $49,990 driveaway, making it the brand’s largest electric SUV model to date, competing in the very popular mid-size SUV segment of the market.
The $1,000 cashback brings down the driveaway price to $48,990 for the entry Essence RWD variant, while the top-spec Essence AWD also sees the driveaway price reduced to $55,990.
Both versions use the same 77 kWh Nickel-Manganese-Cobalt (NMC) battery pack which is developed by SAIC Motor, the parent company of MG, and CATL, the world’s biggest battery manufacturer.
This pack helps deliver a range of 530 km on the RWD variant, while the AWD variant sees that reduced to 485 km due to the additional motor.
Charigng speeds of up to 144 kW are offered if charging on a 150 kW DC charger. This helps the car get from 10-80% in 38 minutes.
On the powertrain front, the rear-wheel-drive model packs 180 kW and 350 Nm, while the top-spec AWD variant has 266 kW of power and 540 Nm of torque.
The base RWD can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.3 seconds, while the AWD variant with more power lowers it to just 5.1 seconds.
One of the nicer features in MG’s EVs is the one-pedal drive mode which is one of the better offering when compared to other Chinese EVs on the market.
The S6 also comes with 750 kg of unbraked towing while braked towing is rated at 1.5-tonnes, ideal for small trailers on the go.
On the inside, there is a 12.8-inch screen for infotainment and a 10.25-inch driver screen along with a heads-up display.
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also available as standard, making it easier to bring your phone apps into the car.
There are also physical buttons and dials for climate and volume controls that would please many buyers.
MGS6 comes with a 7‑year unlimited kilometre warranty, and the option of up to 10 years or 250,000 km of MG Service Activated Extended Warranty.
So far, the brand has sold over 860 MGS6 EVs in 2026, after deliveries began in June, with October seeing 190 units delivered.
Given the increased competition in the market in this very popular segment, more offers are expected in the months to come to keep stock levels at dealerships down.
