Tesla has secured thousands of orders for its popular new six-seater Model Y L since production began for the Australian market in Shanghai in April.
That has helped make the Model Y the best-selling car of any type in Australia in each of the last two months, leading the huge uptake of EVs that has pushed the market share to 23.5 per cent in the last month.
Now, the first few cars are starting to show up on Teslaās inventory, and were picked up by Mike T on the Tesla Model Y L owners Australia Facebook group, who said: āSeveral MYLs available in inventory in Victoriaā.
At the time of writing, inventory was also showing to be available in Queensland, New South Wales, ACT, Victoria and Tasmania. It means they are available for immediate delivery, and likely result from some cancelled orders.
In Australia, the Model Y L, which is made at Teslaās Shanghai factory, has almost 14 per cent more range than any other Model Y variant and offers more space for the family in a longer three-row 6-seater SUV setup. It is also the longest-range model of any Tesla EV to date.
This model is priced fairly well in our market, starting at $74,900 before on-road costs. That was well below what many were anticipating, making it the most affordable three-row electric SUV that offers more than 5 seats.
Itās also the first Tesla EV in Australia to feature Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, with a 3.3 kW discharge rate, and comes with a large Nickel-Manganese-Cobalt (NMC) battery pack capable of delivering up to 681 km of range on 19-inch wheels.
Thatās over 13% more range than the current Dual-Motor Long Range model on sale in Australia, making it the longest-range Model Y to date.
In June, Tesla Model Y sales set a record with the highest monthly sales for decades, with over 8,000 sales.
