Last year, BYD showcased a prototype of a sleek two-door electric sports car under its premium Denza brand, calling it the Z.

Since then, multiple sightings of the car being tested have been reported, but now an undisguised photo of what appears to be the production version of this sports car has been taken, revealing some new details of what is expected from the 2-door sports car.

This was shared by Thinkercar on X, showing a black Denza Z parked with the front of the car showing a large bonnet scoop and angled headlights that resemble earlier Lamborghini models.

The black car appears to be the model with the roof and not the soft top convertible version, previously seen in the renders of the car.

We can also see the aggressive front bumper styling and overall, the paint has a matte finish, hinting at what paint options could be on offer for the two-door coupe.

This sighting appears to be in a BYD parking area, with a BYD Shark ute on one side and what appears to be a Sealion 8 7-seater SUV on the other.

An undisguised real-car photo of the #BYD Denza Z sports car in black, with an imposing front fascia.
It is reported that its specs include: e³, DiSus-M, God's Eye 5.0, 1000+ hp, 0–100 km/h under 2 seconds, convertible. https://t.co/SRxaaXmKaL pic.twitter.com/wRu7Ke0QpY

Given that the photo is taken from the front, it’s hard to tell whether this car has the large carbon fibre wing spoiler in the rear, which has also been spotted previously on render images.

In the renders seen previously, the Z includes large wheels with yellow brake callipers for heavy braking, as well as the huge rear spoiler that will improve the Denza Z’s aerodynamics during track driving.

Recent reports also indicate that the Denza Z is expected to feature a tri-motor electric powertrain with over 700 kW of power in the top-spec variant.

This will help the car accelerate from 0-100 km/h in under 2 seconds, making it one of the most exciting cars from the brand for sports electric car fans.

BYD first revealed the Denza Z concept at the Shanghai auto show just over 12 months ago in April 2025. The unveiling of what was then a concept car showcased several new technologies.

These included the DiSus-M suspension system, a foldable steering wheel, and a steer-by-wire system.

The Denza Z is not the company’s first sports car. That car is the Yangwang U9, which debuted at the Shanghai auto show in 2023 and, as of last year, holds the record for fastest production car.

According to BYD, the U9 Xtreme recorded a top speed of 496.22 km/h at Germany’s ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg facility.

Getting back to the Denza Z, new reports suggest the model will be unveiled in the coming months, and we look forward to seeing it in person and learning more about the brand’s plans to bring this electric sports car to market globally.
