Chinese carmaker LDV is expanding its electric commercial van range in Australia, announcing the official launch of the new LDV eDeliver 5 which will start from $47,990 drive-away as a limited-time launch offer for ABN holders.

The LDV eDeliver 5 joins the eDeliver 7 and eDeliver 9 commercial van range already available in Australia, and makes the smaller model one of the most affordable vehicles in the country’s electric van segment.

Expressions of interest are now being taken on LDV’s website with order books also opening at participating LDV dealers across Australia ahead of planned customer deliveries beginning in July.

“There has been a seismic shift in consumer behaviour due to recent geo-political tensions, fuel insecurity, and surging diesel costs,” said Dinesh Chinnappa, the general manager of LDV Australia.

“With that in mind we brought forward our plans to introduce the LDV eDeliver 5 to the Australian market, which is why stock will initially be limited.”

In fact, LDV boasted that it had air-freighted the first example of the eDeliver 5 to Australia for final validation.

The 2026 LDV eDeliver 5 electric van will initially be available in three variants, though all three models will be powered by an electric motor putting out 120 kW of power and 240 Nm of torque and be equipped with a 64 kWh battery pack capable of vehicle-to-load (V2L).

Battery charging time for all three variants can take the van from 20 to 80 per cent in approximately 36 minutes on a DC fast charger (70kW).

The three variants include a short wheelbase (SWB) model with a low roof, and two long wheelbase (LWB) models – one with a low roof and another with a high roof.

Driving range varies across these three models, with up to 335km for the SWB variant, up to 321km for the LWB with low roof, and up to 301km for the LWB variant with a high roof (all ranges estimated in WLTP).

Total vehicle payload for the low roof SWB variant weighs in at 1,200kg, or up to 1,265kg for both LWB models.

Features for all three variants include a three-seat layout, overhead storage, and vinyl flooring in both the cabin and cargo area. Up front a 12.3-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, FM, and DAB radio is paired with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster for the driver.

Windowless twin sliding doors and rear ‘barn’ doors open on to cargo volume of 6.6m³ for the SWB low roof, 7.5m³ for the LWB low roof, and 8.7m³ for the LWB high roof.

To celebrate the arrival of the LDV eDeliver 5 in Australia, a limited-time launch promotion for the LDV eDeliver 5 SWB low roof variant will be available from $47,990 drive-away to ABN holders until 31 July 2026, only while stock lasts and only at participating dealers.

“Buyers are encouraged to contact their participating LDV dealer to join the queue,” said Chinnappa.

“The LDV eDeliver 5 brings a modern and highly capable electric van for less than the price of most diesel vans. With its combination of price, practicality, range and payload the LDV eDeliver 5 will suit many small business operators.

“LDV has been one of the pioneers of the electric van segment in Australia and we are pleased to broaden our range to ensure there is a choice of vehicle sizes and price points.”

Recommended retail pricing for ABN holders for the LDV eDeliver 5 SWB low roof sits at $47,990, $52,990 for the LWB with low roof, and $54,990 for the LWB with high roof. Pricing for private buyers is slightly more expensive, coming in at $52,621, $55,779, and $57,884. All RRP prices are drive-away.
