Last year, BYD showcased a prototype of a sleek two-door electric sports car under its premium Denza brand, calling it the Z.
Now, photos of what appears to be the production version of this sports car have emerged, revealing key details, including the different performance configurations it could bring at the car’s imminent launch.
Two photos of the two-door electric sports coupe were shared by Thinkercar on X. The first highlighted the two configurations this car could be offered in.
The red car, finished with a black roof and contrasting stripes, appears to represent the standard variant.
There is also what could be described as a higher-performance variant, seen in blue with white stripes and a large carbon fibre wing spoiler in the rear.
This spoiler also has the white stripes, which appear to run along the length of the car.
In the second photo, a close-up of the blue car shows key performance features likely to make it to production.
These include larger black wheels with yellow brake callipers. On top of that, the front spoiler appears to improve the Denza Z’s aerodynamics.
Other features of the car are also evident, including an air scoop on the front bonnet. That aerodynamic styling is also seen on the sides of the two-door car, with air scoops spotted along the sides behind the doors.
In the rear, a charge port can also be spotted, as well as side decals that run between the front and rear wheels.
BYD first revealed the Denza Z concept at the Shanghai auto show in April 2025. The unveiling of the concept car featured a showcase of several new technologies, including the DiSus-M suspension system, a foldable steering wheel, and a steer-by-wire system for the Denza brand.

The Denza Z is not the company’s first sports car. That car is the Yangwang U9, which debuted at the Shanghai auto show in 2023.
That two-door sports car has since gone on sale and features a quad-motor drivetrain. According to BYD Europe, the U9 Xtreme recorded a top speed of 496.22 km/h at Germany’s ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg facility. If certified under standard production-car criteria, that would place it among the fastest road-legal vehicles ever built.
Since the Denza Z concept showcase, multiple photos and videos have emerged, revealing road testing as well as testing at the iconic Nürburgring test track in Germany.
In October 2025, footage surfaced of the Denza Z testing at the Nürburgring, showing the car tackling high-speed corners on the 20.8km circuit.

With track testing underway at the end of 2025 and now in early 2026, these images showing the car in full suggest that the Denza Z will be fully revealed, along with specs and pricing, in the months to come.
Its arrival would further cement BYD’s ambitions beyond mass-market EVs and into the premium performance segment.
