Jaecoo, a sub-brand of Chinese car giant Chery, last December revealed specs of its adventure-focused dog-friendly J5 electric SUV, delivering unbelievable value starting at $36,990 driveaway for the first thousand customers.
The company has now extended this to another thousand customers, after receiving solid demand from the first thousand customers.
Omoda Jaecoo’s Chief Commercial Officer, Roy Munoz said the company had been overwhelmed by the positive feedback from dealers and the general public.
“The order books have been quickly filled since they opened in late December, so we were more than happy to extend the offer to allow more people to get behind the wheel of our latest new energy vehicle.”
On top of that, black interior is also being offered as an option, which is an addition to the lighter interior previously available. This will also be available to the first 2,000 customers.
The J5 EV comes with a 58.9 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack and 402 km of WLTP range. This battery can be charged from 30-80% in 28 minutes at the right speed fast charger.

Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) is also on offer on this SUV, which can power electrical equipment when needed on an adventure, or at home in case of a blackout.
Powering the J5 is a front-mounted 155 kW motor that makes 288 Nm of torque. This can get the car from 0-100 km/h in 7.7 seconds, which is respectable for electric mid-size SUVs.
The J5 EV is a fairly well-equipped EV with 18-inch alloy wheels, powered mirrors and tailgate, a frunk, a panoramic glass roof, a 13.2-inch Infotainment screen, an 8.8-inch instrument cluster, a 50 W wireless charger, heated and ventilated seats, an 8-speaker sound system, multiple drive modes, a powered tailgate, and more.
Inside, it also features a pet-friendly synthetic leather that is made of a special silicone-based material. Making the seats of the car antibacterial and wear-resistant, and also easier to clean.
For those looking to connect their phones and use their phone’s apps inside, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also available as standard, which can be used on the main 13.2-inch vertical screen.
The Jaeoo J5 EV also comes with an 8-year unlimited kilometre warranty, 8 years of capped priced servicing and an 8-year unlimited kilometre battery warranty.
