Hundreds more kerbside electric vehicle (EV) chargers have been added to the Chargefox platform in a move that is expected to boost access for drivers without off-street parking.
Chargefox, Australia’s largest and fastest growing EV charging network, announced on Tuesday that it had partnered with Sydney based charging infrastructure company EVX to add the latter’s pole-mounted kerbside chargers to the Chargefox network and app.
The partnership sees the addition of 120 EVX locations and 240 plugs to the Chargefox app.
EVX chargers are currently located at various locations in New South Wales including in Wollongong, Sydney, Ballina, and Byron Bay, with a further 28 locations in Sydney set to be added soon.
Two additional locations in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne also boast EVX charging.
“We are incredibly excited to welcome EVX to the Chargefox platform,” said Rebecca Stenhouse, CEO of Australian Motoring Services (AMS) who operate Chargefox.
“Kerbside charging is a key part of our mission to make EV charging more convenient for drivers across Australia — delivering a single, secure and seamless experience, whenever and wherever they need it.”
Adding EVX’s pole-mounted EV chargers to Chargefox will hopefully help reduce the fatigue many drivers face when swapping between multiple apps and accounts for different public charging networks. The two companies also hope their partnership will help provide more accessible charging to areas where it is needed most.
The announcement comes only a few weeks after over 150 pole-mounted chargers across inner Sydney operated by Australian gentailer AGL were also added to the Chargefox network.
