Tesla last week finally unveiled new ā€œaffordableā€ versions of its Model Y and Model 3 electric car in the US, with price reductions of up to 14% off (Model 3 Standard) base prices.

Now, within a couple of days of that reveal, the company has swiftly launched the Model Y version, known as the Model Y Standard, in multiple European countries, revealing pricing and specs.

In a post on X, Tesla’s Europe & Middle East account shared the announcement by saying: ā€œMeet Model Y Standard – our most affordable Model Y yetā€.

Meet Model Y Standard – our most affordable Model Y yet

Ultra low cost of ownership, engineered for safety & comes with the Tesla features you love

– 534 km of range
– Extreme efficiency that takes you further + saves you €€
– Minimal maintenance

What's…

Starting in multiple countries with a pricing of €39,990, it sits under the previous RWD model which is priced from €49,990, a drop of over 20%.

On the company’s Netherlands website, it says on the homepage: ā€œMeet Model Y – Available from €39,990 or €299 per monthā€.

This is a much larger price difference than in the US, which only sees around 11% off the price of the Model Y RWD.

According to Tesla Europe, the new base Model Y will come with 534 km of WLTP range and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.2 seconds.

One other key difference between the Model Y Standard in the US and this version in Europe is that it will be offered with Autopilot.

In the US the car only comes with cruise control which the customers can upgrade to FSD Supervised for $US99/month.Ā

Given that the FSD Supervised software isn’t available in European markets just yet, the company is offering the Autopilot suite to customers who purchase this base, cheaper car, which comes equipped with Tesla’s latest Hardware 4 (AI4) hardware, including a computer and a high-definition camera suite.

This Standard model is available with the car’s 18-inch wheels with aerocovers on them. Styling for both models is similar to the current lineup, although the Model Y Standard has a more Model 3 like headlights.

One major change is that the glass roof is closed off on the inside with a fabric, in line with the rest of the interior.

On the inside, the base Model Y cuts costs by having textile for seating, manual adjustments, aĀ  7-speaker audio, and no rear screen.

The latest model will be produced from Tesla’s Berlin factory and paves the path for its potential arrival in right-hand-drive markets like the UK, followed by Australia and New Zealand.

Tesla Owners Club of the UK replied to Tesla Europe’s announcement post on X by saying: ā€œAs expected, Model Y Standard launches in Europe, built in Berlin. This surely means a UK version is inevitableā€.

This of course, hasn’t been confirmed by Tesla yet, but it appears that Tesla is spreading production of models across its multiple factorie,s and GigaBerlin will be playing a bigger role in global markets.

Afterall, Tesla is about to ship cars from that factory to Australia in the coming months, in the form of its most powerful electric SUV in recent years, the 2026 Tesla Model Y Performance.
