GWM, maker of the Ora electric hatchback, has announced a new incentive – low cost finance – to help boost flagging sales.

Until the end of this year, new Ora hatchback buyers will have access to finance at just Ā 1.99%. This rate is available on all variants of the Ora, with pricing starting at $34,990 driveaway.

The GWM Ora has sold 399 units so far this year (end of July), placing it at number 30 in the ranks of best selling EVs in Australia, according to The Driven’s own data base. It sold 1,225 units in 2024, when it was ranked 15th.

ā€œBy introducing industry-leading finance offers through our very own GWM Finance brand, we expect to generate strong customer interest, and reinforce GWM’s position as one of the most competitive and innovative brands in the market,” said John Kett, GWM’s COO.

“This comprehensive package makes GWM’s advanced electrified vehicles more accessible than ever, removing both financial and practical barriers for Australian drivers keen to transition to new energy technology.ā€

The new rate is available up to 60 months or 5 years, making ownership costs lower compared to many ICE cars on the market. It also includes no requirement for deposit or balloon payments, further making it an attractive finance offering in the market.

The GWM Ora range comes in at:

  • Lux – $34,990 driveaway
  • GT – $37,990 driveaway

At these driveway prices, the Ora is more affordable than Australia’s best selling electric hatchback, the MG4.

This car is available in two battery packs with the Lux variant offering up to 400 km of range from a 57.7 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack.

On the GT variant, the battery gets a slight cut to a 57.5 kWh Nickel-Manganese-Cobalt (NMC) pack, delivering 380 km of range.

Charging the Standard Range variant from 10-80% on a fast charger takes around half an hour.

These batteries will power a 126 kW front mounted motor which has up to 250 Nm torque, helping the car sprint from 0-100 km/h in 9 seconds.

On the inside, both variants have 10.25-inch infotainment screen and feature Apple Carplay and Android Auto.

When it comes to warranty, the Ora has a relatively long 7-year / unlimited km warranty, 5-year roadside assistance and 5-year capped price servicing. For the battery packs, there is an 8 year warranty on offer.

The new incentive will be available between 1 September and 31 December this year.
