Tesla CEO Elon Musk, has teased an upcoming product after visiting the company’s design studio in California. In a post on X, Musk said Tesla will reveal a new product in 2025 that will have a “most epic demo ever”.
This teaser got a lot of attention on the platform and at the time of writing, 25 million views and 10,000 reposts, leaving many guessing on what this product could be.
Some expect this to be the overdue second iteration of the Tesla Roadster, while others believe it could be the evolved Optimus humanoid robot. And, of course, there is also a chance that this could be something different altogether.
If it’s the new Tesla Roadster then its not the first time Musk has mentioned it in recent times.
Last year, in the post on X, Musk teased the car’s performance credentials, going as far as saying that some may not even call it a car: “Tonight, we radically increased the design goals for the new Tesla Roadster. There will never be another car like this, if you could even call it a car.”
Back then, Musk also referred to a product demo when it was unveiled: “I think it has a shot at being the most mind-blowing product demo of all time”.
Tesla first unveiled the Roadster 2.0 back in 2017, some 10 years after the original Tesla Roadster was revealed.
Even to this day, Tesla’s Australian website has a Roadster 2.0 placeholder page. According to that page, it currently has the specs listed as 0-100 km/h in 2.1 seconds, which is identical to what the Model S Plaid sedan does today.
The website also lists a top speed of 400 km/h and an estimated range of 1,000 km and 10,000 Nm of wheel torque. The original specs also list a quarter-mile time of 8.8 seconds.
To this day, customers can reserve the Roadster 2.0 in Australia for $66,000 with a fully refundable $7,000 order fee due today.
