Chery’s Omoda E5 electric SUV has joined the list of growing EV models to see price cuts to kickstart 2025, making the SUV the cheapest in the country.
The latest offer sees the E5 start at $36,990 before on-road costs, down $6,000 over the launch pricing. This is for the entry BX model, which delivers up to 430 km of WLTP range and the Omoda E5 is also quite safe on the road, having received a 5-star ANCAP safety rating only months earlier.
This pricing is quite attractive given the Omoda E5 delivers up to 430 km of range. It is now priced at around $7,000 under the BYD Atto 3 extended range model which is also on special.
The EX model is $3,000 more at $39,990 before on-roads, on the back of this latest offer.
Chery Australia’s CEO, Lewis Lu flagged new models were on the way.
“At Chery, we are committed to accelerating the transition to clean energy by making electric vehicles more affordable for everyone, and easing the burden for consumers in these tough economic times,” he said.
“A key focus for Chery in 2025 will be building our New Energy vehicle credentials, and this is just the beginning of an exciting year ahead, with several new model launches to come.”
Chery Omoda’s BX entry variant is quite well-equipped with key features including:
- Dual 12.3-inch screens
- 18-inch alloy wheels
- Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- 50W wireless phone charger
Moving up to the top EX trim, customers can get a powered sunroof, ambient interior lighting, 360-degree camera and 8-speaker sound system.
As mentioned above, the BX and the EX variants of the Omoda E5 have 430 km of range, thanks to the 61 kWh Lithium-Iron-Phosphate (LFP) battery pack.
Powering the E5 is a motor producing 150 kW of power an 340 Nm of torque which makes it quite a good city SUV. It can also accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.6 seconds.
When it comes to charging, AC charge rates of up to 9.9 kW can be achieved on a three-phase charger.
Fast charging is also on offer with the compatible CCS2 plug found at the front of the car. DC fast charging speeds of up to 80 kW is on offer, charging the car from 30-80% in 28 minutes.
The Omoda E5 comes with a 7-year warranty on the car and an 8-year warranty on the high-voltage battery pack, giving buyers a peace of mind.
This offer started on the 10th January and is expected to last for a limited period of time, although exact timing was not provided.
