British automaker Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has reportedly axed all but one internal combustion engine (ICE) model from its lineup as the company transitions to become an electric vehicle (EV) only company.
According to comments made by JLR CEO Adrian Mardell at a recent investor day, the Jaguar F-Pace SUV will be the only car to remain in production from the brand’s current lineup.
Five models have been axed, including the XE sports saloon, XF premium saloon and wagon, and the F-Type sports car, all of which have saw production cease at Castle Bromwich in May.
The Jaguar E-Pace compact SUV available as a petrol and PHEV and the electric I-Pace SUV are scheduled to end production by year’s end.
The news was reported earlier this week by Automotive News Europe quoting JLR CEO Adrian Mardell speaking at the company’s investor day from mid-June.
“We are eliminating five products, all lower value,” said Mardell. “None of those are vehicles on which we made any money, so we are replacing them with new vehicles on newly designed architectures.”
The news comes as Jaguar transitions to an electric-only brand, with six new electric models due to be launched over the next three years – including three Jaguars and a fully electric Range Rover.
First off the blocks is set to be a the fully electric Ranger Rover and a four-seat electric GT, expected to be unveiled next year. Other reports suggest a luxury SUV is due in 2026 to be followed by a large luxury saloon.
