BMW has revealed the pricing details of its new iX2 electric SUV into the Australian market, which take its total EV offerings to six different models and variants in the local market.
BMW Australia says there will be two variants of the iX2 SUVm both priced under the luxury car tax (LCT) threshold.
- BMW iX2 eDrive20 – $82,900 before on-roadsĀ
- BMW iX2 xDrive30 – $85,700 before on-roads
The BMW iX2 joins four other models under both of these limits. These other BMW models include the i4 eDrive35 sedan, iX3 M Sport, iX1 eDrive20 and iX1 xDrive30 SUVs.
On top of the above pricing, the BMW iX2 xDrive30 can purchased on a novated lease for $335 per week along with a guaranteed future value also provided by theĀ BMW finance service.
The new iX2 xDrive30 is powered by a dual-motor powertrain capable of delivering up to 230 kW and 494 Nm of torque. This is paired with a 64.8 kWh battery pack that can provide up to 449 km of WLTP range on a single charge.
When it comes to charging, the iX2 is one of the few EVs on the market that will have 22 kW of AC charging. This means that the battery can be fully charged in under 4 hours at a 22 kW three-phase AC charger.
Fast charging speeds of 130 kW can also be achieved, helping the car get from 10-80% in under 30 minutes.
As part of the charging offer, iX2 xDrive30 customers will be able to have 12 months subscription to the Chargefox public charging network.
This powertrain setup helps the iX2 sprint from 0-100 km/h in 5.6 seconds and is capable of reaching a top speed of 180 km/h.
The more affordable single-motor iX2 eDrive20 offers a front-wheel-drive single motor which can deliver up to 150 kW.
Like the dual-motor variant, the eDrive20 variant has a 64.8 kWh battery pack which delivers a slightly longer range of 477 km on the WLTP cycle.
This latest SUV is based on the BMW X2 which dimension-wise comes in at:
- 4,554 mm in length
- 1,845 mm in width
- 1,590 mm in height
On the inside of the 5-seater SUV, there is the curved BMW infotainment screen which is likely to be similar to that found in the iX1.
On the BMW iX2 xDrive30, seven colour options are available. One of these is non-metallic while the other 6 come with a $1,800 metallic paint price-tag.
Like the BMW iX1 that is currently being delivered to local BMW customers, the new BMW iX2 is also produced in the BMW Groupās plant in Regensburg, Germany.
Deliveries of the more expensive BMW iX2 xDrive30 will begin in Q1 2024 followed by the iX2 eDrive20 which will arrive for customer deliveries by mid-2024. Further details on the latter model will be available closer to the launch.Ā
