Tesla has amped up its referral program for new and existing customers, providing more savings than in the last couple of years – which once only included offers of free supercharging.

As of July 7, 2023, new Model 3 and Model Y customers can save an additional $750 of their vehicle’s purchase price and three months of Enhanced Autopilot, if they are referred by an existing Tesla customer.

Tesla now explains the updated program on their ā€œRefer and Earnā€ page of the website:Ā ā€œIf your friend orders a new Model 3 or Model Y using your referral link: They’ll receive A$750 off their purchase price and 3 months of Enhanced Autopilot.ā€

Enhanced Autopilot is currently available to purchase for Tesla Model 3 and Model Y vehicles at a price of $5,100. It includes features that are on top of the basic autopilot and include:

  • Navigate on Autopilot
  • Auto Lane Change
  • Autopark
  • Summon
  • Smart Summon

As a referrer, existing owners can receive 10,000 referral credits which can be used to redeem various Tesla products.

For those interested in referring a friend, Tesla has a 7-step process that can be triggered from the Tesla app as listed below.

To refer a friend:

  1. Open the Tesla app.
  2. Tap the profile picture icon, located in the top-right corner.
  3. Select ā€˜Refer and Earn.’
  4. View the amount of referral credits you will earn and the buyer cash awards and exclusive referral benefits your friend will receive for each qualifying Tesla product.
  5. Tap ā€˜Refer Now.’
  6. From your list of contacts, select the friend you’d like to refer and send the referral message. You can also tap the share icon in the upper-right corner to send your referral link.
  7. After your friend places an order, credits will appear as ā€˜pending’ in the Tesla app until the Grant Date.

The news of the updated referral program comes less than a week after Tesla slashed prices on its models bringing them down to their lowest levels yet.

The prices of Australia’s best-selling EVs, the Tesla Model 3, and the Model Y, were reduced by $3,500 on all of the different variants.

The starting price of a Model 3 before referral program bonus, government EV subsidies and on-roads start at $57,400 for the single motor RWD variant. The Model Y starts at $65,400 as well.

All of these incentives and price cuts make Tesla more accessible than they have ever been helping thousands of drivers to make the switch to an EV sooner.
