The Chinese owned MG motor brand unveiled the longer range version of the ZS EV, one of Australia’s best selling and lowest priced electric vehicles, at the Fully Charged Live show in Sydney this weekend.Ā
The additional range of the new ZS EV Long Range is thanks to a larger 72.6 kWh battery pack that can offer up to 440 km of WLTP range.Ā
This is a 120km increase in range over the existing variants, which offer around 320 km (WLTP), but there is also a bump up in price.
The first batch of the new ZS EV Long Range is expected to be available for purchase in April with a price tag of $55,990 before on-roads.
In NSW with the stamp duty savings on EVs, the driveaway price is $57,709 in white. There is also a rebate in NSW that EV buyers are eligible for bringing this price lower. This is also a 23.6% bump up in the drive-away price over the base Excite model in NSW.
The same spec car in WA will be priced at $61,367 before any EV incentives.

At Fully Charged Live, MG Motor Australia and New Zealand CEO, Peter Ciao shared the reason for bringing the MG ZS EV Long Range to Australia:
āFollowing the success of the ZS EV in September last year, we have listened to our customerās feedback and have fast-tracked the arrival of our new ZS EV long range,” he said.
“We know Australians love to drive and now they can go even further thanks to a larger 72kWh battery pack and a 440km range in the ZS EV Long Range.ā
The new line-up of the MG ZS EV in Australia now includes:
- Excite (50.3 kWh)
- Essence (50.3 kWh)
- Long Range (72.6 kWh)

The Long Range version includes all the standard features offered on the Essence variant but this time also includes a privacy rear window.
The white and black colours are included in the price while the metallic paints like blue, red or silver are an additional $700. All models come with a 7-year unlimited km warranty.
The three models and their specifications can be seen on MGās Australian website.Ā We look forward to testing the long-range variant when it lands and comparing it to the other extended-range model SUVs like the BYD Atto 3.
