Janus Electric goes to parliament
It’s been a big week for Janus Electric, which took its electric Freightliner Coronado to Canberra with senator Rex Patrick in the passenger seat, and then had Labor shadow minister for climate change and energy Chris Bowen (who also recently took delivery of a Tesla Model 3) give it the once over also.
In a post on Facebook Bowen said, “I got a chance to check out this very impressive electric truck at Parliament House this morning.
“I can confirm it can tow boats, caravans and B-Double trailers. And won’t ruin anyone’s weekends or even weekdays.”

Tasmania adds electric “Skybuses” to Hobart airport run
Passengers flying in to Tasmania’s Hobart Airport will soon be able to enjoy the immediate serenity by boarding one of two new Skybus electric buses.
The two new electric buses will run the daily passenger route between Hobart and the Hobart Airport, making them Tasmania’s first entirely electric passenger buses.
Sixt offers free charging for EV hirers
Car rental giant Sixt is offering free charging to anyone who hires an EV, thanks to a new partnership with Chargefox.
The car hire giant in late 2021 added a number of MG ZS EV and Tesla Model 3s to its fleet at Sydney, Melbourne,m Brisbane and Perth airports.
Rainbow power company launches solar-wall-powered free public charger
Visitors driving to the “rainbow region” in Northern NSW can also now access a free EV top up at the Rainbow Power Company in Nimbin.
The company recently finished installing two 7kW AC chargers on a wall that is otherwise covered completely with solar panels totalling 14.8kW. The wall faces east, and charges up the company’s 13.5kWh Tesla battery which then feeds the EV chargers.
